Exploring Gems
Exploring gems
We will take you on an amazing adventure into the exciting and fascinating world of gems on 5-day courses or 4-hour themed workshops. Lore is integral to understanding the basics of gemology and theory gives way to an exploration of gemstones, the use of tools to identify them, the screening of films as a testimonial and experiences with professionals to better understand the realities of the trade.
« In the thousands of gems that I have looked deep into through a magnifying glass, I have seen many things but never numbers.
If you see “silk” in a ruby or “gardens” in an emerald then you go on wonderful adventures.
The beauty of a jewel cannot be put into an equation. »
Alain Boucheron
« These precious gems have turned me into an adventurer…
I am often asked what my favourite stone is and I invariably answer that I love them all. Rarity and value have no effect on how I feel. In reality, the gemstones I fall for appeal to me in an uncontrollable, almost hypnotic way, just like the mythical places they come from.
In the great almanac of my memories, each gemstone embodies a story that may be extraordinary, may be sentimental or may be dangerous. Each one plays a film before my eyes…
I do not actually collect gemstones but I prefer to collect adventures. »
